With a background in corporate America as a Professional Development Trainer, Ricki Lee McKenna, BS CN, owned and operated a multi-faceted consulting and training business in Houston, Texas, for 10 years. She created and facilitated workshops on professionalism: Team building, communications, professional image, wholistic health management and etiquette. Corporate clients include: Gulf States Toyota, Southwestern Bell, Foley’s department stores, Dow Chemical, the Houstonian Fitness Center and others. Independent clients included Kathy Whitmire, Mayor of Houston and George Martinez, president, Sterling Banks. In 1998, after moving to Basalt, CO, Ricki became a licensed, Certified Nutritionist through the National Institute of Nutrition Education -- American Health Science University, and was one of the best-known nutritionists in the Roaring Fork Valley of Colorado. She returned to Houston in 2014. For the past 18 years Ricki has been and counseling with people and researching nutrition topics that can benefit overall health and nutrition, especially “food vs medications”. Ricki has been quoted in USA Today and writes informative nutrition articles for the Aspen Daily News, Aspen Times and The Healthy Planet. For Williams Sonoma, she does food preparation and demonstrations, and collaborates with alternative healthcare practitioners, Care Givers and senior residences (The Forum, Belmont, Brookdale, Villages on the Park and in the Heights) and recreational facilities in Houston, TX. She has appeared on local TV and radio and taught nutrition and cooking classes at Colorado Mountain College in Aspen and Basalt. Ricki facilitates interactive discussions and nutritional programs for organizations, schools, clubs and businesses including; the Aspen Club & Spa, Maroon Creek Club, Glenwood Recreation Center, Challenge Aspen, Kids First and Roaring Fork Kids (re nutrition for children), Glazier and Fonteno Senior Centers, Village on the Park, and Heights, Belmont and Brookdale Senior Residences, The Forum Memorial Woods, Houston Area Continuity of Care, Unity Church and business and social networking groups in Houston, TX Ricki is a founding partner of the Aspen Natural Cooking School, Mchealthy’s SOUP’s ON, and CHOOSE HEALTH SOLUTIONS, and is a founding member and presenter for Davi Nikent Integrative Wellness seminars (Colorado) and is a professional member of the National Association of Nutritional professionals (NANP), Memorial Women’s Business Network, the Houston West Chamber of Commerce, Houston Area Continuity of Care, and the Senior Services Alliance, with a private nutrition practice CHOOSE HEALTH SOLUTIONS in the Houston, TX area. Constantly updating her education, Ricki specializes in the growing number of Seasoned Citizens a.k.a. baby boomers, and the 70+ year-young groups. She holds seminars and workshops on digestive and preventive health and reversing chronic disease with food and without drugs. After returning to Houston in 2014, to be closer to family, Ricki now incorporates medical foods, supplements and programs from carefully researched sources to use with her clients and patients in her nutrition practice.
